Christmas in July - Stampin' Up! Artisan Blog Hop

Ok, bit of a cultural fusion on this post. Our theme this week on the Artisan Blog Hop is Christmas in July and I've come up with some Asian-inspired decorations to add that finishing touch to your mid-year festivities.

Hi if you've come through from our July Facebook showcase! So glad you stopped by :)

Because This Christmas Specialty designer paper is lighter weight than our usual packs, I decided to have a go with some origami. The best thing is, there are 24 sheets per pack. Pretty awesome if you need to mass produce anything! So here's my origami fortune cookie. This is made using three of the basic origami sonobe units and has a ribbon through the middle you can use to hang it.

I used 6x6" squares in different patterns and embellished with some fussy cut, gold-embossed stamps from the Peace This Christmas stamp set. You could easily pop a chocolate inside along with your 'fortune'.

And now for some REALLY quick and easy fortune cookie place names. I used the biggest circle in the new Layering Circle Framelits...

Thoughtful Branches 3x3 Boxed Set ~ Susan Wong

Did you see Artisan Joyce Fowler's tip on the @stampinup Instragram? Colour on your clear block with markers, spritz with water then stamp. Great for backgrounds and no two cards are the same! Once the backgrounds were dry I embossed with copper, flicked on some extra colour with the markers and Gold Wink of Stella Brush.

Foxy Friends Fun

I have not been THIS ga-ga over a stamp set for a long time. Foxy Friends, I love you! As my ladies made their frames up at class last night, I played with this Christmas version of the project we were doing. You should have seen me giggling over how cute these little legs are. Really! I know you'll love it too...

And just for my Aussie friends (and especially my koala-mad friend Cindy), here's a little guy in a Eucalyptus tree. The nose is hand cut and lacquered with glue from the fine tip glue pen. He's sweet don't you think?
