Teachers who Love

Today was a very special day in our family. Our eldest finished kindy - forever! They held a lovely mat-time graduation ceremony for him (cue mother and grandmother in tears), during which we presented the teachers with this gift. We are so thankful for these great ladies that have had such a big part to play in Felix's early learning.

This is a quote I found online (hello Pinterest) and gave my own flavour by downloading free fonts and using variations of the primary colours: Crushed Curry, Real Red and Bermuda Bay. It was comprised in My Digital Studio (Stampin' Up! digital software), printed on A4 and framed with one of the standard frames and mats from Factory Frames. Next time I will match my whites a bit better!!

Here's to a new era!

Just Add Ink 199

Tina Gillespie on our Just Add Ink design team has done up this cool sketch for us to work from this week.

So below my take on the sketch. Believe it or not, this is actually a hybrid card. Since I didn't have any images the right size or kind that I wanted, I had a quick browse on My Digital Studio, resized this stamp from Creative Elements to approx 6.3cm (2 1/2") and printed it on our Whisper White card.

To colour the flower I would normally get out a sponge but in my nearly-ready-to-give-birth situation, I just couldn't be bothered getting up so I call this technique 'Finger to Paper'. The ink spread really easily and gave more vibrance quicker than a sponge! There's some yellow colouring pencil in there too.

Do you love the 'LOVE'? It's from Stampin' Up! set Yippee-Skippee.

This card served well as a 40th wedding anniversary card for my parents. What an awesome milestone! We are immensely proud of them and their long-standing commitment to loving one another.

Birthday Banners

Every kid likes seeing their name on something - anything! These simple birthday banners did the trick for our Summer birthday run this year and now have a prized place over their beds.

These look best with an odd-number of flags so think decorative extras if your child has an even number of letters in his/her name. Each flag measures 5x7" with the point, round or inverted arrow ends about 1 1/4" up from the bottom. The font called Airplane and is free to download from Design Bent.

Just Add Ink 198 - BLOG HOP

At Just Add Ink we are kicking off the year in style with a blog hop. Hop hoppity hop! Welcome if you've just hopped over from Paula Dobson's site.

Take a wander though the rest of the design team blogs then enter the challenge yourself using your Envelope Punch Board or Card thinlits. Go on, get stuck in there!

I was inspired by the amazing Claire Daly and used the Circle Card thinlits to create some hidden journalling on a 12x12 layout. This page is one of many in my Thailand trip album (apparently a longterm project) that we went on in August 2012. See my little 'X' marking the spot?
